Try this fun decorating technique on a clay cup! Cups will be handmade ahead of time by instructor in order for them to be ready for carving. Every skill level is welcome to this 2 hr workshop. What is Sgraffito? : A surface decorating technique that consists of layering the surface of a pot and ‘scratching’ or carving away the superficial layers to reveal a contrasting colour layer below. Participants get to carve their cup with a design of their choice (many images and transfers will be available. Different colours available. Once completed, the cup will be picked up 1-2 weeks later once it has been fired twice in a pottery kiln. Pottery creations are fired to a high temperature and glazed with a clear food-safe glaze. Class size limited to 7 seats to allow for plenty of individualized instruction. All materials are included. Fee is per participant/seat.
